Habit: Shrub

Habitat: Deciduous forests, also in the plains

Distribution: Pantropical

Flowering and Fruiting: November-March

Key identification features: It is an erect subshrub. Its leaves are ovate or elliptic-ovate. The white flowers grow in elongated, terminal, often panicled racemes. The corolla. The plant has 5 stamens, and its capsules are oblong and acute, featuring 5 furrows .

Uses: A paste made from the root is used as a pain killer. It is used in treating intestinal troubles, dysentery, leucoderma, inflammation, piles, bronchitis, itching etc
