Key identification features: This herb has alternate, elliptic-lanceolate leaves that are glabrous and membranous. Its yellow flowers are solitary, and the capsule contains dimorphic seeds—some embedded below and others free above.

Uses: A poultice of the plant is used to treat pimples, boils and other infections. The leaves are used in a febrifuge decoction.
