Artocarpus hirsutus Lam.

Synonym: Saccus hirsutus (Lam.) Kuntze,

Vernacular name: Anjili, Ayani, Anniliayari

Habit: Tree

Habitat: Semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests, also in the plains

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats and Sri Lanka

Flowering & Fruiting: December-June

Key identification features: It a tree with leaves broadly ovate or elliptic, acuminate, base truncate,  coriaceous. Bark brownish-black. Flowers in spikes, free in male flowers, tubular in  female. Fruit aggregate. Seeds globose.

Uses: Used as timber, fruit edible
