Vernacular name: Maravazha, Taliyamaravada, Upputhali

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Moist deciduous forests, also in the plains

Distribution:  India, Sri Lanka and Seychelles

Flowering and Fruiting: March-April

Key identification features: These robust epiphytic shrubs have stout stems, distichous leaves, and creamy yellow flowers with reddish-brown bands. The flowers feature a saccate lip, and the capsule grows with ribbing.

Uses: Traditionally used for treating various ailments such as stomachaches, earaches, wounds, and eye diseases. It is also uses as an ornamental plant.
