Rhynchostylis retusa (L.) Blume

Habitat: Moist deciduous forests, also in sacred groves

Distribution:  Indo-Malesia

Flowering and Fruiting: June-July

Key identification features: It is a small plant with stout, woody stems. Their leaves are lorate and obliquely bilobed at the apex. The violet-pink flowers grow in dense, pendulous axillary racemes. The lip is pink, clawed, and has a deflexed, deeply inflexed, cuneiform claw. The spur is short, laterally compressed, and emarginate.

Uses: The plant has been used for medicinal purposes, including treating conditions like asthma, tuberculosis, and rheumatism.
