Rungia pectinata (L.) Nees

Vernacular name: Comb Rungia

 

Habit: Herb

 

Habitat: Semi-evergreen forests and waste places

 

Distribution: India, Myanmar, China, Malaysia, Phillipines, Sri Lanka

 

Flowering and Fruiting: November-February

 

Key identification features: A herb with hairy stems, ovate to linear-oblong leaves, and small densely packed white flowers. Its glabrous capsules contain orbicular brown seeds.

 

Uses: Leaves has slightly bitter taste and are often used in soups, stir-fries, and curries. The plant is rich in vitamins and minerals, making it a nutritious addition to meals.
