Vernacular name: Mavu

Habit: Tree

Habitat: A large evergreen tree

Distribution: India: Tropical Himalayas, Western Peninsula; Tropical Asia

Flowering & Fruiting: July-August.

Key identification features: A large evergreen tree. Leaves are oblong or elliptic-lanceolate, crowded at ends of branches. Panicles terminal, flowers uni- or bisexual, petals creamy- white in colour. Fruit is a drupe, ovoid-oblong

Uses: Wood moderately hard and used for making furniture and boats. Fruits are edible. Pickles are prepared from the immature fruits.
