Habit: Herb

Habitat: Laterirte hills near seacoast

Distribution: Endemic to South India (Kerala)

Flowering & Fruiting: December-April

Key identification features: Perennial, prostrate, much branched herbs with woody rootstock, attached to hard lateritic soil; stem always glabrous, quadrangular, more or less winged. Leaves opposite. Flowers sessile; Corolla pink with white to yellow palate. Fruit a compressed capsule, glabrous; seeds 2, flat, softly hairy with white aril.
