Delonix regia (Bojer ex Hook.) Raf.

Vernacular name: Gulmohor, Peacock Flower

Habit: Tree

Habitat: Roadsides, cultivated

Distribution: Madagascar, India

Flowering and Fruiting: March-October

Key identification features: Small suffruticose undershrubs with compound spiral leaves, axillary racemes bearing yellow flowers, and strap-shaped pods covered with fine bristles. Seeds compressed, obliquely oblong.

Uses: The wood is used to make agricultural tools, furniture, handles for implements, etc. The leaves are used in the treatment of constipation, inflammations, and even arthritis.
