Dalbergia horrida (Dennst.) Mabb.

Synonym:  Amerimnon horridum Dennst.

Vernacular name: Aanamullu, Jadavalli

Habit: Climber

Habitat: Semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests, also in the sacred groves and plains

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats

Flowering and Fruiting: September-January

Key identification features: Straggling shrubs, climbing by means of hooked branchlets. Leaves ovate-oblong or elliptic-oblong. Flowers in axillary cymose panicles. Pods broadly oblong or strap-shaped, 1-4-seeded.

Uses: Bark is made into paste and applied externally in curing acne vulgaris, hypothermia, and spasm.
