Key identification features: Trees with leaves bipinnate
and alternate. A spine is present at the junction between pinnae pairs on the
upper side. The bisexual flowers
are yellow and appear above leaf axils and terminal racemes. The five sepals are unequal. The fruit is
a pod, obliquely oblong, and black.
Uses: To treat bruises and coughing of
blood. The wood is used for firewood and timber. It is used for inlaying work,
cabinet making, violin bows and for walking sticks.
