Key identification features: This medium-sized tree features dark brown, nearly smooth bark. The
inflorescence consists of a few
flowered pubescent raceme. The petals are obovate in shape, white, or sometimes four petals are pale purple, while the
fifth petal is darker with purple veins.
The hard, flat pod is the fruit.
It is dehiscent. Inside, it
contains 10-15 seeds.
Uses: The bark is alterative,
anthelmintic, astringent and tonic, juice of the bark is used in the treatment
of amoebic dysentery, diarrhoea and other stomach disorders
