Flowering and Fruiting: June-September
Key identification features: Portulaca species are annual or
perennial herbs. Inflorescence axillary or terminal clusters or cymes about
2-30 flowered, rarely solitary. Flowers bisexual, Fruit is a capsule.
Uses: Aqueous extracts of the plant have
shown muscle-relaxing effects. The plant is anthelmintic, antibacterial, antiinflammatory,
antiscorbutic, depurative, diuretic etc.
