Distribution:  India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia

Flowering and Fruiting: April-July

Key identification features: This large shrub or small tree features 4-angular branchlets with corky bark. Its opposite leaves are ovate-acuminate, Bright blue flowers form in penduncled cymes, emerging from old leaf axils. The petals are broadly ovate. Fruit is globose berries that range in color from deep purple to black.

Uses: The wood is useful in construction.
