Habit: Herb

Habitat: Grasslands, also in the plains

Distribution:  India to Bangladesh and Philippines

Flowering and Fruiting: September-November

Key identification features:  This plant is a slender, ground-hugging herb with two broad, unequal leaves and a spike of flowers at the top. The leaves are heart-shaped at the base and the flowers are small, with green sepals and white petals that form a hood. The flower’s lip is deeply lobed with a conical spur, and the column is large and petal-like.

 Uses                  : treat ailments such as fevers, coughs, and digestive disorders
