Key identification features: It
is a small tree with brownish, hollow branchlets that exude milky latex. Its
leaves are simple, alternate, and orbicular-ovate, cm. The figs grow directly
on short shoots from the trunk or main branches and are subtended by 3 ovate
basal bracts. The figs themselves are turbinate, ribbed, and covered in brown
hairs .
Uses: Fruits are edible. Bark
yields a coarse fiber and is used in the preparation of medicine for
hydrophobia.
