Vernacular name: Akil, Kana Mulla, Purippa, Vellakil

Habit: Tree

Habitat: Canopy trees in evergreen and semievergreen forests

Distribution: India-Southern Western Ghats

Flowering and Fruiting: February-June

Key identification features: It grows up to 35 m tall, with elliptic-lanceolate leaflets, fragrant greenish-yellow flowers, and a bright yellow capsule fruit containing reddish-brown seeds.

Uses: Wood decoction used in the treatment of arthritis, anorexia, cardiac debility, expelling intestinal worms, inflammation, leprosy & rheumatism.
