Key Identification Features – The
Scandent shrub is a woody climber with glabrous twigs and
small, recurved thorns. Its leaves are oblong or elliptic, shiny, and have
entire margins. The flowers are white, and the fruits are smooth, orange-red,
and fleshy, containing 1-3 seeds.
Uses - It has culinary uses as a
pickled flower bud, similar to the well-known caper.
