Habitat: Rocky areas in semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forests, also in sacred groves

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats

Flowering and fruiting: March-August

Key identification features: Unarmed shrubs or small trees with scandent branches. The leaves are simple, opposite. They are ovate, acute, and membranous. The cymes have many slender villous branches. The flowers are 4-merous. The corolla is white, with a tube densely villous near the mouth and ovate, acute lobes. The fruit is flattened and orbicular.

 Uses: Various parts of the plant are used for their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
