Habitat: Evergreen forests

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats (Kerala) (Endemic)

Flowering & Fruiting: December-July

Key identification features: These trees grow up to 25 m in height. Their bark when cut, the blaze reveals a reddish-brown color. The young shoots are a beautiful golden brown and covered in densely arranged, peltate scales. The leaves are imparipinnate, arranged alternately, and lack stipules. Fruit is a capsule.

Uses: Aglaia malabarica used in traditional medicine for treating ailments such as fever, inflammation, or skin conditions.
