Distribution: India, Himalayas, Sri Lanka,
Southeast Asia, China, Malesia
Flowering and Fruiting: October-November.
Key identification features: Rufous Uraria is a subshrub with
stems erect, gray-white hairy and brown hooked hairy. Flowers are borne in an
inflorescence at branch-ends, densely hooked hairy and velvet-hairy. Flowers
are purple, Legume 4-7-jointed; articles gray-brown.
Uses: Used to cure dysentery and
diarrhoea; enlarged spleen and liver; tumours. It is also applied against
pustules and fistulae.
