Synonym: Phaseolus dalzellianus Kuntze

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Moist deciduous forests

Distribution: India, Pakistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Laos People's Democratic Republic

Flowering and Fruiting: August-March

Key identification features: Herb with Leaflets ovate-lanceate, base cuneate or truncate, apex acuminate, membranous. Racemes few-flowered; bracteoles large; calyx teeth obscure; corolla yellow. Pod narrow-cylindrical. Seeds 6-10.

Uses: Mature seed - cooked or sprouted, eaten as a vegetable, added to soups and stews or they can be fermented into Indian dishes such as idli
