Vernacular name: Kunninpala

Habit: Deciduous trees

Habitat: Terrestrial

Distribution: Endemic to the Western Ghats- from South Sahyadri to Maharashtra Sahyadri (south).

Flowering & Fruiting: March-October

Key identification features: Deciduous trees. Trunk & Bark grey, scaly, blaze pinkish cream. Leaves simple, opposite, pairs unequal, decussate. Flowers in terminal cymes, white, fragrant. Fruit and Seed Follicles, boat-shaped, orange-yellow; seeds many arillate.

Uses: Treating skin disorders and gastrointestinal ailments, owing to their antimicrobial and gastroprotective properties.
