Vernacular name: Kilannu, Kitamu, Daincha

Habit: Shrub

Habitat: Scrub jungle and road sides, also marshy fields in the plains

Key identification features: Soft prickly shrub

Flowering & Fruiting: August-March

Distribution: Pantropical

Key identification features: An erect, sparsely-branched annual shrub; stems semi-woody; branches and leaf rachises more or less prickly. Leaves pinnate; Flowers borne on 3-6 flowered drooping racemes; Fruit(pod) straight or slightly curved with slightly indented margins, 35-40 seeded.

Uses: Used as green manure, rice straw, wood and fodder
