Vernacular name: Kunukipanal

Habit: Tree

Habitat: Evergreen forests

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats (Kerala)

Flowering & Fruiting: Throughout the year

Key identification features: Shrubs or Small trees, Leaves simple, alternate, distichous; Flowers solitary or in fascicles, leaf opposed or extra-axillary, creamy white. Fruit and Seed Clustered 1-2 seeded berries, red.

Uses: In folk medicine it is used as abortifacient, laxative, febrifuge analgesic, filler of tooth cavities, and anti-HIV drug and for rheumatism and various skin infections.
