Synonym: Nothapodytes nimmoniana (J.Graham) Mabb.

Vernacular name: Peenari, Pulippacha

Habit: Tree

Habitat: Moist deciduous, evergreen and shola forests

Distribution: Indo-Malesia and China

Flowering and Fruiting: June-October                            

Key identification features: This small tree features alternate leaves that are ovate-oblong in shape. The undersides of the leaves are hairy. The inflorescence consists of terminal corymbose cymes, which are shorter than the leaves. The bisexual flowers are yellowish and emit a foetid smell. The fruit is an oblong drupe with a purple hue.

Uses: Treatment of malaria
