Laggera alata (D.Don) Sch.Bip. ex Oliv.

Distribution: Dry tropical biome

Key identification features: Subshrubs; stems winged, densely villous. Leaves alternate, obovate-oblong, obtuse, sessile. Heads in terminal leafy panicle. Female flowers outer several rows. Bisexual flowers few, central; corolla pink, lobes acute, glabrous. Achenes  ribbed, hispid; pappus white.

Flowering and Fruiting: December-March

Uses: Its leaves may be rubbed on to skin to repel mosquitoes and flies.
