Vernacular name: Vattolam, Vattu, Valli

Habit: Climber

Habitat: Moist deciduous forests, scrub jungles and sacred groves

Distribution: India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malesia

Flowering and Fruiting: April-June

Key identification features: Climbing herbs with glabrous stems and ovate leaves, acuminate apex, and rounded or subcordate base. Flowers are greenish-yellow with brown dots and small ovate to orbicular sepals.

Uses: The leaves of this woody climber are used in Indian traditional medicine to cure ulcerous sores. Root bark is cholagogue and used in treating dyspepsia.
