Vernacular name: Kodangal, Kudakan, Kuthirakkulambuchedi, Mutthil, Vellara

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Stream banks and other water courses

Distribution: Tropical & sub-tropics to E. Australia and W. Pacific

Flowering and Fruiting: Throughout the year

Key identification features: It is a prostrate herb with roots at nodes. The leaves are simple, alternate, and orbicular-reniform.The flowers are sessile and pink, arranged in 2-5 flowered umbels ranging in color from pink to purple. The fruit is ovoid.

Uses: Occasional in moist places of low lying areas along marshes. Considered highly medicinal and used in Ayurveda
