Distribution: South India and Sri Lanka

Flowering and Fruiting: March-April

Key identification features: Ancistrocladus species are evergreen woody climbers or scandent shrubs. Their sympodial branches feature circinate woody hooks. The bisexual flowers have white or pink petals. Fruit is dry dehiscent nuts, surrounded by persistent spreading sepals with large seeds having ruminate endosperm.

Uses: An aromatic herb used medicinally in the treatment of coughs, asthma, abdominal pain, and enteritis
