Habit: Herb

Habitat: waterlogged areas especially in rock outcrops, around temporary pools, rice fields

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats

Flowering & Fruiting: August-October

Key identification features: Its stems are procumbent, profusely branched. The leaves are opposite-decussate. The flowers are axillary, solitary, and sessile with crimson colour. The fruits is a capsule.

Uses: It is a decorative aquatic plant, often used in aquariums for its visual appeal and water oxygenation properties.
