Habit - Shrub to Small Tree

Habitat - Evergreen, shola and moist deciduous forests

Distribution - South India and Sri Lanka

Flowering and Fruiting - February-April

Key Identification Features - It is a large shrub to small tree with rough, grey bark that emits a pungent smell when cut. Its leaves are simple, elliptic, and arranged in a pseudo-verticillate pattern toward the branch tips. The lateral nerves number 10-12, and the midrib is covered in fine hairs both above and below. The creamy-white flowers are borne in terminal sessile umbels, with sepals that are ovate, obtuse, and pubescent. Staminal filaments are 6 mm long, and the ovary is densely hairy. The fruit is a globose capsule.
