Vernacular name: Kaikkathetti Kashara Kazhavu Koovachekki

Habit: Tree

Habitat: Evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, and also in sacred groves

Distribution: Southern Western Ghats (Endemic)

Flowering & Fruiting: February-May

Key identification features: Bushy shrubs. Leaves ovate, apex gradually acute, cordate at base, sessile; nerves obscure. Flowers fascicled in very dense many-flowered cymes, Petals obovate, blue. Berry 4-5 mm across, globose.

Uses: bacterial and viral infections and skin disorders like herpes, chickenpox and psoriasis. The leaf extract of this plant have antimicrobial, antidiabetic and antioxidant properties
