Key Identification Features –
This plant is a large shrub to small tree, reaching heights of 3-5 meters. Its
leaves are simple, alternate, and leathery, with ovate, lanceolate, or
elliptic-lanceolate shapes. The flowers are solitary and axillary, occasionally
appearing in groups of 1-3 on old wood. Sepals are ovate and pubescent, while
the outer petals are ovate and pubescent on both sides. The fruit consists of
ellipsoid or globose red fruitlets, each with a single ovule.
