Habit: Herb

Habitat: Low lying marshy places and water puddles

Distribution: Paleotropics

Flowering and Fruiting: Throughout the year

Key identification features: This herb is either aquatic or amphibious. The leaves are opposite, thick, and semi-succulent with an ovate-oblong or spathulate shape. The flowers are solitary and axillary. The bluish-white corolla is broadly campanulate, and faintly 2-lipped, with five subequal lobes. There are 4 didynamous stamens. Fruit is a capsule.

Use: Medicinal herb and also as an ornamental plant in ponds and aquaria
