Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume) Miq.

Synonym: Ocimum aristatum Blume

Vernacular name: Poochameesa

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Wet areas, Moist deciduous forests, also in the plains

Distribution:  Southern China, the Indian Subcontinent, South East Asia, and tropical Queensland, Australia

Flowering and Fruiting: September-December

Key identification features: It is a diffusely branched perennial herb with leaves that are rhomboid to ovate-deltoid. The inflorescence is lax verticils. The corolla is white and tomentose The stamens are exserted. Fruit is a nutlet having ovoid-oblong shape.

Uses: It is a diuretic. It promotes the production and flow of urine, making it useful in promoting kidney health and reducing fluid retention.
