Vernacular name: Kunukku-thooki (Malayalam)

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Degraded moist deciduous forests, also forests plantations and plains

Flowering & Fruiting: June-December

Distribution: Tropical Africa, Arabia through India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar

Key identification features: Annual herbs. Leaves alternate, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, base rounded, serrate on margins, apex acute or shortly acuminate, puberulous, membranous. Flowers in interrupted clusters, on axillary racemes. Bracts minute. Male flowers minute, Female flowers; tepals 3, lanceolate, shortly connate; Capsule glabrescent. Seeds globose, minutely arillate.

Uses: Used for inflammation, poor healing wounds, and sores
