Grona triflora (L.) H.Ohashi & K.Ohashi

 

Family: Fabaceae

Synonym: Desmodium triflorum (L.) DC., Aeschynomene triflora (L.) Poir.

Vernacular name: Cherupulladi, Kunnappalai, Munta-mandu, Nilamparanda, Nilampulladi  

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Grasslands and moist deciduous forests, also in plains     

Distribution: Cosmopolitan; India and China

Flowering and Fruiting: July-December

Key identification features: Much branched prostrate herbs, rooting at nodes. Leaves 3-foliolate; Petals pink to violet; standard obovate; wings and keels present. Pods hairy or glabrous, reticulate-veined, longer than broad.

Uses: The plant is considered to have medicinal properties for treating dysentery, rheumatism, fever, jaundice, stomach ache, skin problems, wounds and ulcers.
