Vernacular name: Nirvadamalli, Neervadamalli (Malayalam)

Habitat: Scrub jungles and waste places

Flowering & Fruiting: Throughout the year

Distribution: Warmer regions of the world

Key identification features: Prostrate herbs, branchlets woolly. Leaves elliptic, obovate, mucronate, spathulate, woolly beneath. Spikes terminal and sometimes axillary; tepals 5, lanceolate, acute at apex, woolly at the back of the inner 3 tepals; stamens 5, ovary 1-ovuled

Uses: Treatment of urinary tract disorders and kidney stones, gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases, rheumatism, infections and as a natural analgesic
