Key identification features: Trees with buttressed bole, grey-white mottled bark, and greyish-brown blaze. Leaves are simple, alternate. Bisexual white flowers in axillary racemes; sepals tomentose, petals fimbriate. Fruit is a green, oblong drupe, densely tomentose, with a single, compressed stone.
Uses: Decoction of the bark is used as a remedy for
rheumatism, indigestion and biliousness. Stem bark is given for inducing
abortion until the third month of pregnancy.
