Distimake vitifolius (Burm.f.) Pisuttimarn & Petrongari

Synonym: Merremia vitifolia (Burm.f.) Hallier f.

Vernacular name: Manja vayaravalli, Manja kolambi valli (Malayalam)

Habit: Climber

Habitat: Degraded forest areas and also in plains

Flowering & Fruiting: July-April

Distribution: India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indo-China, China, Malaysia

Key identification features: Twining shrubs; stem brownish-black, young shoots patently hairy. Leaves lobed, equally wide; Inflorescence axillary, 1-3-flowered cymes; Corolla yellow, campanulate, Capsule globose, fruiting sepals much larger. Seeds 4, ovoid.

Uses: Used for fever, headache, eye inflammation, rheumatism, dysentery, jaundice and urinary diseases.
