Vernacular name: Kachil, Narankizhangu, Noorankizhangu, Vellakkizhangu

Habit: Climbing herb

Habitat: Moist deciduous, semi-evergreen and evergreen forests

Distribution: India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Eastern Himalayas

Flowering and Fruiting: August-November

Key identification features: Cinnamon Vine is a deciduous perennial creeping and climbing vine. The vines twine from left to right. The leaves are pointed to long-pointed with a heart-shaped base. The small yellowish-white flowers arise from the axils of the leaves. The flowers are bell-shaped. Flowers may have a spicy fragrance similar to cinnamon.

Uses: The juice of rhizome is taken to reduce the complications related to menopause. The tuber decoction is used for early menstruation.
