Key identification features: Annual erect herbs; stem quadrangular. Inflorescence terminal compound dichasial cymes. Flowers tetramerous, Calyx-tube membranous, brownish, Corolla actinomorphic, pink. Capsules oblong, with persistent calyx and stamens. Seeds irregular in shape, cubical to rectangular with shallowly sunken sides, brown.
