Cajanus rugosus (Wight & Arn.) Maesen

Habit: Climber

Habitat: Grasslands

Distribution:  Peninsular India and Sri Lanka

Flowering and Fruiting: November-December

Key identification features: Climber with ridged, tomentose stems. It has obovate leaflets. The racemes bears 3 to 5 yellow flowers.The standard petal is retuse, with auricles, and is yellow with red streaks. The wings are obovate, and the keel is curved to one side.

Uses: The seeds of Cajanus rugosus are edible and can be consumed after cooking. They are cultivated as a staple food crop.
