Key identification features: It is an erect glabrous herb
having profusely branched. Flowers in terminal panicled spikes or in axillary,
sessile clusters. Male and female flowers have 5 tepals. Utricle is
circumcissile. Seeds minute, discoid.
Uses: Tender shoots and young leaves are used as vegetable,
mature stems are piled, cut into small pieces and cooked as vegetable
especially with small fishes
