Key identification features: It is a decumbent herb with
glabrous stem. The leaves are elliptic-oblong with apex obtuse. Spike is
sessile and solitary or 2-3 together. Flowers are yellowish red with tepals
equal. Stamens are 3. Fruit is achenes having orbicular seeds. .
Uses: Used for breast-feeding mothers as it increases
lactation. Useful as an antiviral agent, is used as a remedy against intestinal
cramps, fever, diarrhoea and dysentery
