Distribution – Widespread, Egypt to South Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Maldives, Sri Lanka

Flowering and Fruiting – September-November

Key Identification Features – This annual herb has an erect stem, opposite leaves, and pale blue flowers. The leaves are broadly ovate, coarsely crenate-serrate, and sparsely hirtellous. The calyx elongates in fruit, and the corolla has a finely pubescent tube.

Uses - It serves as an ornamental plant due to its easy cultivation and maintenance. Traditionally, it was used for medicinal purposes, including wound healing, treating peptic ulcers, and managing diabetes. Additionally, the plant’s steam was believed to clear lungs and sinuses.
