Indigofera psoraloides (L.) L.

 

Family: Fabaceae

Synonym: Indigofera trifoliata L.

Habit: Herb

Habitat: In degraded forest areas and scrub jungles

Flowering & Fruiting: September-December

Distribution: Indo-Malesia, China and Australia

Key identification features: Prostrate herbs with radiating branches; stem slender, reddish, glabrous; leaflets obovate, obtuse. Flowers in axillary fascicles, 2-4 together; calyx lobes ovate, acuminate, hairy; standard hispid outside, pink. Pods linear-oblong, deflexed, compressed; seeds oblong, deep brown, smooth.

Uses: Used as a nutritive tonic and a dye
