Evolvulus nummularius (L.) L.

Vernacular name: Roundleaf Bindweed

Habit: Herb

Habitat: Forest plantations and degraded moist deciduous forests, also in the plains

Distribution: New World tropics, Madagascar, naturalized in Africa and Indo-Malesia

Flowering and Fruiting: July-February

Key identification features: Slender prostrate perennial herbs; broadly ovate leaves, Flowers 1-2, in leaf-axils; white rotate flowers, Stamens sub-exserted.  Globose capsule, brown to black seeds.

Uses: Grown in gardens as ornamental plant. A good soil binder. Honey bees forage on the flowers.
