Key identification features: It is a woody perennial climber having spinescent, green stems.
Their rootstock features fascicled tuberous roots. The racemes are found either
solitarily or in clusters. The bisexual flowers are small. As the berry ripens,
it turns purple having 2-5 globose seeds.
Uses: The rhizome is a soothing tonic that
acts on the circulatory, digestive, respiratory and female reproductive organs.
